In theory, a magicless telling of the tale doesn’t sound like a bad idea. It could be interesting to see how it could’ve really happened. It’s just a shame that this film is not.
Michael Bay is gonna Michael Bay, and his worst tendencies are still on display. He restrains himself a bit, but refuses to truly mature his style or subvert himself. Still, if you can move past his more annoying traits, you’ll probably enjoy yourself.
